Spain is very tolerant of homosexuality reflected in the fact that homosexuality was legalised as long ago as 1822. In the last decade Spain has passed very progressive legislation protecting the rights of gays and lesbians and allowing same sex marriage -the third country in world to do so. There is also a vibrant and thriving gay scene not only in many of the larger cities like Madrid, Barcelona and Seville but also in the resorts including Sitges, Torremolinos, Las Palmas and Ibiza. Spain is the ideal destination for gays and lesbians seeking sex, sand and sun...

The best time to visit Spain is during the summer months from April to September. If the heat worries you then come early or late in the season. Spain has a Mediterranean climate in the southern and eastern coastal areas as well as a temperate climate further inland. The central Meseta has hot summers and cold winters, while the southern regions at the foot of the mountains have the warmest winter temperatures in mainland Europe. On the Atlantic coast summers are not as hot with temperatures and rainfall decreasing inland. Average annual precipitation in the north and northwest is 890 mm or more and the Meseta receives between 305 mm to 635 mm annually. Average temperature ranges in Madrid are from 1c to 8c in January to 17c to 31c in July.
