PP and Gay Spain

The new ruling party of Spain Partido Popular has decided to reach a single policy on gays, which will defend the rights of homosexuals, and reject discrimination against them. However it will not support gay marriage which is not expected to appear in the document which will be finalised at the party’s forthcoming congress in Sevilla.

The party is waiting to hear from the Constitutional Court after Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría and Federico Trillo challenged gay marriage as unconstitutional when the legislation was passed in back in 2005. Neither the adoption by gay couples or gay marriage in Spain are mentioned in this statement draft.
